75+ photo requests for Greenwood Cemetery, Sauk Centre, MN.
Saturday, September 13, 2025 ~ 10 am to ? Greenwood Cemetery, located just down the road from the Palmer, and is also the resting place of Sinclair Lewis, whom we will make sure to visit before returning to the Palmer! It has over 75 photo requests – some have been waiting since 2018! As volunteers, we will strive to fulfill as many requests as possible from families, genealogists, and researchers from across the country. This is a free volunteer event — no participation fee, and booking a hotel room is optional.
Join us in caring for the past. Help us locate and photograph graves so names and stories are never lost. Every photo is an act of remembrance – a way to honor the departed, tend their resting places, and keep their memory alive. Together, we’ll be caretakers of stone, story, and spirit. We’ll meet at 10 am at the Palmer for introductions and a summary of the afternoon. The Palmer House has generously offered a BOGO on hotel rooms!

Learn more about the previous owners, famous guests, and unregistered residents. Afterwards your tour guides will take you to our infamous basement. This part of the hotel is closed to the public and can only be accessed during our tours. Once in the basement, we will conduct a mini-investigation to find out who may still be checked in to the hotel after all these years, with ample time to take as many pictures as you’d like! The cost to have this unique Palmer House experience is $45 + tax per person and is non-refundable under any circumstances. Tours will last approximately 2-3 hours.
